How does the chair massage event work?
Once a request for chair massage is submitted with all info you have available, like date, time, location, how many recipients, etc. more or less. Carrie, herself, will reach out to iron out some details and come up with the best course of communication from there.
If you’re curious what an event can look like, just know every event looks different. For example, we have had 10 LMTs in a music room in a high school from about 11pm to 4am for a High School afterprom, massage available for the high schoolers and some volunteers who were interested! On the other end of the spectrum, Carrie herself has taken just her table to a birthday party at the clients house for about 5 ladies to enjoy next to the pool. We love to make these events happen, let us know how we can help!

Ok, I’ve booked a massage with Carrie, now what?
You should get a confirmation of the appointment, then a reminder if you booked out far enough in advanced. As you arrive, know that each massage appointment is 100% customizable. Once you arrive, if it’s your first time here I will have you fill out an intake sheet, then we will spend a few minutes chatting about your expectations for the session and I or your therapist will direct you on the next steps. Some techniques are best when the client is fully or partially clothed, most often clients prefer swedish-style using oil or cream directly on the skin, and before the massage part of your session your therapist will communicate this with you.
We do have a cancelation policy and appreciate your understanding and respect for the therapists schedules.
Do you accept walk-ins?
In this season, fall of 2026, we do not accept walk-ins, we are appointment- only. If you are interested in a same-day appointments, please call/text or email us at 515 270 0030 or serenitymassage2957@gmail.com You may book online if an appointment further in the future works best.
How does a couples massage work?
Once booked, Carrie will reach out to a few top-tier LMTs to see who can help fulfill the appointment request. Then the appointment will take place inside one of our couples massage rooms, with two massage tables and two LMTs.

Looks like you are on the 2nd floor, do you have an elevator?
Yes! We have stairs and an elevator. The elevator is a lovely commerical VPL model, you get to hold the button for the whole ride! Please allow about 3 minutes for the use of this elevator. We are happy to help you operate this in order to keep yourself safe and secure before and/or after your appointment with us. If this is something you know you will utilize, letting us know ahead of time allows us to make sure it’s ready for you!
What should I wear?
I reccomend comfortable clothing that allows for freedom of movement, if your session is more stretching and range of motion, unrestrictive clothing allows you to experience the optimal benefits. Any other type of massage that may require dis-robing, but utilizes proper draping, may cause massage brain/jelly legs and re-dressing can be a challenge.
Will the massage hurt?
Short answer: It shouldn’t
Long answer: Carrie’s style ranges from ultra gentle (pick a lymphatic massage for this!) to some deep myofascial/orthopedic approaches. Carrie’s philosophy, though, is that if the massage is painful, the brain and the body enter a subconscious “protection mode” and this can neutralize the benefits of massage, or worse. The protection mode may cause you to contract (or flex) your muscle, this can cause injury to your therapist or possibly to your muscle. So, communication is key, let your therapist know if anything feels uncomfortable. If there is a spot that you really are wanting to have worked on, let your LMT know, and they may guide you on how to breathe and using a scale to gauge how much more or less pressure they can use.
How often should I get a massage?
Short answer: Weekly 🙂
Long answer: Your LMT knows daily/weekly self-care in the form of Massage may not be ideal, but we see many people book monthly massages and love how well that works for them. If it’s been a while and you have one or a few items to work on, once a week for a few weeks may be necessary until you get to a maintenance phase.
Hack: If you do your physical therapy (if you’ve ever been), regular workouts, mobility, cardio, etc, massage can be less frequent. However, your LMT is here for you if you’d like to book every 3 days!!
