For the last 10 years Carrie has been working with athletes of all levels in Austin, TX. Through working with individuals who prioritize health and function as a daily activity, Carrie has learned a lot.
Over 20 years she has accumulated many different CEUs to help address the aches and pains that ail everyone. Her Massage life started in Iowa City at EastWind School of Integrative Healing. Here she would learn the basics like anatomy and Swedish massage, but also the main philosophy of the school: Five phase theory.
The initial learning of massage and bodywork fell under a holistic understanding of the body and how it operates. This philosophy is not new and has been practiced for thousands of years. Yes, very profound. Ok, I’m not going to lead you on and say Carrie is a Master of this approach, but she has spent many years influenced by this approach and studying not only the body, but also the mind. Carrie has a bachelors in Psych, academically accomplished, but also actually enjoys staying informed on the developments in the science of Psychology.
Anyway, that’s the foundation, she loves talking about any of the above, so feel free to ask for more info.
These days Carrie provides an intuitive integrative approach to supporting your current systems. Some techniques that make frequent appearances in her sessions are cupping, Myofascial, Triggerpoint, Reiki, and Manual Lymphatic Drainage. Yes, sometimes all in one hour. It’s the Intuition that leads. Of course if an individual requested a Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage Carrie would be happy to provide a focused session on the Lymphatic system, for example.
Something to consider, the nervous system comes first. Carrie prefers to assess how “on alert” the individual is before any technique begins. One way she meets the nervous system is by providing a safe and comfortable space to allow for turning off the alarm. Active listening during intake helps her to really understand what the issue maybe and/or can provide some clues on how ot move forward. Carrie cannot stress enough how important feedback is. If you ever feel uncomfortable during your session it is up to you to verbalize this, so your LMT (possibly not Carrie) can remedy this ASAP.
